CARE Canada is looking for a Financial Analyst to join our team.
ABOUT THE ROLE / WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Analysis, the Financial Analyst oversees project financial accounting for a portfolio programming. They ensure that contractual and compliance requirements are met and for ensuring effective project financial management. With the underlying goal of strengthening, promoting and implementing best practices in locally-led, empowered program management, the Financial Analyst is responsible for ensuring the donor compliance requirements are met, supporting the development of project proposal budgets, providing analysis on project expenditure, investigating variances and providing risk mitigation.
This involves knowledge of the project accounting cycle, continuous review, update and analysis of the portfolio performance to ensure adequate planning, forecasting and measurement of the Global Programs team budget targets. The Financial Analyst is also expected to provide support, technical advice, and capacity building to Country Office colleagues, as necessary.
WHAT YOU OFFER / ABOUT YOU
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Finance Officer or Analyst
- University degree in Accounting or similar field
- Experience with project financial accounting functions in an NGO or similar setting
- A thorough understanding of budgetary processes and variance analysis
- A thorough understanding of accounting processes as they impact on the overall financial system
- Experience communicating financial information to management and donors
- Ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance personnel in a clear and concise manner, without technical/accounting jargon
- Strong computer skills specifically in Excel, Outlook and the Windows operating environment
WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU EXTRAORDINARY
- Oral and written communication skills in French or Spanish
- Experience working for an International non-government organisation (INGO)
- Professional accounting designation
REQUIREMENTS

- Starting Salary Range between $65,000 – $72,000, depending on skills and experience
