Breaking News Correspondent, Korea

Reuters is seeking an energetic and versatile journalist to join the Breaking News Hub in the Seoul bureau. The Hub is at the Centre of a very busy newsroom handling unpredictable breaking news from North and South Korea on politics, business and the economy. The successful candidate will work with editors and other correspondents in Seoul to issue news alerts and write fast-updating stories for Reuters’ global audience of decision-makers.

About the role:

• Be the first to issue breaking news alerts on major news stories from Korea and write updates
• Report and write stories following up on the initial news break
• Monitor key sources of news, major economic indicators and regulatory filings in Korea
• Work with editors and correspondents on stories that span multiple countries and regions
• Develop and work on initiative story ideas under your own byline

About you:

• At least two years of journalism experience
• The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom environment
• Experience covering North Korea and South Korea’s politics, society and business for a news organisation
• The personality and communication skills to work closely with colleagues with different backgrounds and expertise
• The ability to write fast and clearly in English and fluency in Korean
