Mnemonic is a non-profit organisation of human rights advocates, archivists, technologists, and open source investigators dedicated to preserving, memorialising and adding value to publicly available information related to human rights violations.
About the Opportunity
We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about getting human rights issues on to news agendas around the world and excited about working with journalists, lawyers and human rights defenders to tell stories that bring about positive change. This position will be responsible for creating and reviewing communications content on behalf of Mnemonic.

Description of responsibilities
- Creating the organizational communication strategy for Mnemonic including all Mnemonic programmes and making sure that each programme is in line and aware with the organizational strategy;
- Supporting the development of specific communication plans, workflows and strategies for the specific programs;
- Conceptualizing and implementing communications work plans, activities and campaigns in coordination with program teams;
- Coordinating with the technical team, graphic designers and editors for the realization of campaigning content and producing graphic and visual elements to promote Mnemonic visibility on website and social media channels and other platforms as needed;
- Writing and editing annual reports, public organizational and programmes updates, press releases, events descriptions and other materials as needed;
- Creating social media content of Mnemonic platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter);
- Conducting outreach to press and media interviews;
- Managing and ensuring timely response to media queries in coordination with Executive Director and the programmes team;
- Mentoring, coaching and conducting trainings for relevant staff of key communications products, workflows and processes;
- Creating and managing the organizational calendar of events and communication activities;
- Monitoring and analyzing social media insights to assist in reporting and improving social media and online advocacy strategies;
- Assisting the Executive Director as needed;
- Monthly reporting on quantitative and qualitative indicators, including when possible the number of unique and recurring visitors, the number of times resources have been accessed, and demographic indicators indicating the type(s) of users who are using Mnemonic content.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Journalism, Media and Communication Science, Political Science or other relevant discipline and 7 years of work experience, OR at least 10 years’ relevant work experience;
- Proven capacities in developing strategies and creating efficient plans
- Familiarity with all major social media platforms, new trends and technologies.
- Experience crafting social media content.
- Excellent command of the English and Arabic language;
- Good competence in digital tools and computer literacy;
- Very good knowledge of the MENA region;
- Previous working experience with international NGOs and multi-cultural environment;
- Good interpersonal skills are required.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently is required.
- Experience editing others writing and writing collaboratively
- Demonstrated writing ability; can be in an activism, media or academic capacity.
Duration:
The assignment is expected to take place in Berlin (preferably) or remotely in the time period from 1 January 2023 until 31 December 2023 for a full-time position with a possibility of extension upon successful performance and availability of funds.
