Consultant Position: Consultants: Training Coordinator – Accelerating Women’s Empowerment in Energy (AWEE) Initiative – South Africa

Location: Johannesberg, South Africa

Unit: Winrock Environment and Energy

Reports to: Winrock Clean Energy Director and Project Manager

Duration: Up to 30 days, February 28, 2023 – through September 30 2025

Background:

The Accelerating Women’s Empowerment in Energy (AWEE) initiative is a U.S. Department of State Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR) project to address gender discrepancies in the energy sector labor force in 1) high-emitting countries that are committed to a clean energy transition and 2) countries with significant gender gaps in the sector or where general gender inequality is widespread.

Assignment Summary:

Consultant will be based in South Africa and responsible for will provide:

  • Logistical support in coordinating all trainings and stakeholder events.
  • Assist with identifying and reserving venues
  • Communicate with potential participants on scheduling and events
  • Develop and monitor attendee lists for events
  • Arrange logistics for events and trainings, including but not limited to, catering, printing of materials, audio visuals, distribution and collection of surveys and IT needs.

The Training Coordinator will work based on the needs of the project and deliverables schedule. Consultant will report to the Technical Country Lead, Grant Manager and Project Manager.

Level of Effort/Days: 30 days throughout a 2 year period.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 5 years of prior work experience coordinating trainings, workshops, on monitoring evaluation and learning of international development projects, preference in energy sector or related field
  • Experience working with international donor organizations such as USAID, World Bank, IFC, UN, etc.
  • Experience working with stakeholders, renewable energy companies, civil society organizations and Universities.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet (preferably Excel), and presentation software (Microsoft)
  • Ability to work with a variety of persons and organizations having diverse issues, concerns, agendas.
  • Good interpersonal skills and time management
