Job Summary

As part of the FYF Leadership team, the Programs Director will be responsible for day to day operations and communications, including strategic planning, human resources management, program design and implementation, program support for operations, finance, administration, and management of field projects, with particular attention to developing proposals and program and grant cycle management.

We are looking for an individual with a passion for making a difference in the lives of religious minority members recovering from severe persecution, and someone who believes in the importance and value of civil society organizations, and the value of trauma treatment, justice and accountability, and women’s rights.

The Program Director will be accountable directly to the FYF Executive Director and, secondarily, to the FYF Board.

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform a number of functions.

General Objectives

· Serve as the leading senior manager in the Foundation with regard to programming.

· Ensure the optimal implementation of projects and ensure their alignment towards FYF.

· Identify grant and other funding opportunities that align with FYF’s mission and vision and lead on proposal development.

· Help to maintain teamwork among staff members and ensure a productive working environment.

· Contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of the organization.

Administration and Management

· Coordinate with the Leadership team on daily tasks, participate in meetings, and compose agendas.

· Support FYF on various administrative and management tasks.

· Support FYF Country Team in Iraq by overseeing program implementation and providing management and administrative backstopping.

· Support the financial oversight of the Foundation, in coordination with the finance team.

· Maintain orderly files and involve relevant internal stakeholders in communications, with particular attention to programmatic donors.

· Liaise with team members on financial reporting to ensure that financial reports are submitted on time, in adherence with financial reporting requirements, and that they correspond to narrative reports.

· Contribute to elements of field and HQ human resource policies and codes of conduct.

· In coordination with M&E staff, ensure databases are updated for reporting and knowledge retention, in coordination with field team members.

Awareness and Public Communications

· Contribute materials for proposals, meetings, and external communications, in coordination with the FYF Leadership team.

· Assist FYF team in creating promotional material to share with donors and inform Yezidi and international community of FYF activities, to the extent necessary.

· Contribute to informational reports and packages to be used on the website and elsewhere, to the extent necessary.

· Help ensure that new informational packages are presented on the website, along with FYF Leadership team.

· Help to design, implement, update, and coordinate the FYF program portfolio, associated outputs and outcomes, and intelligently and creatively communicate this to stakeholders and audiences, in coordination with the FYF Executive Director.

· Engage in regular communication with field-based staff, organize regular calls, and organize reporting from the field to the HQ office, especially with regard to program planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Development and Partnerships

· Help identify funding opportunities and serve as focal point for developing proposals, especially to governmental and UN donors.

· Assist in searching for and developing fundraising opportunities, to the extent necessary, in coordination with FYF Leadership team.

· Assist in developing and adapting the organization’s fundraising strategy, seek and screen new funding opportunities.

· Work with the Executive Director to establish and maintain positive relationships with donors and potential donors.

· Oversee the drafting and editing of proposals for funding.

· Oversee FYF follow-up with donors following proposal submission to monitor progress, answer questions and amend submission as necessary.

· Pursue funding opportunities other than direct grants from donors, e.g. as a sub grantee or consortium member.

· Oversee program and finance reporting, ensuring compliance with our policies and procedures and donor regulations.

· Process and understand quantitative and qualitative program information, packaging such information to be shared with partners, stakeholders and donors (past and current programs).

· Review proposals, agreements, contracts, donor reports, etc. with special attention to maintaining high quality of external reporting and compliance with donor rules.

Qualifications and Competencies

Education, Knowledge and Experience

· A bachelor’s degree in International Development or related field is a distinct advantage. Master’s degree in Humanitarian or Development Studies preferred.

· Five to eight years of relevant experience including experience in US Grant design and implementation.

· Excellent English oral and written communication skills, including ability to analyze and present a cogent argument both in writing and orally. Other language skills a plus but not required.

· Experience managing and prioritizing a high workload and a diverse staff team with a flexible approach to changing environments.

· Experience in displaced persons, religious freedom, anti-trafficking initiatives, sexual violence in conflict, women’s rights & empowerment, genocide and atrocities issues, justice and accountability, trauma, and crisis recovery.

· Programmatic experience in one or more the following sectors: GBV prevention and response, MHPSS service provision, livelihoods, access to justice, protection, and child protection.

· Proven capabilities in teamwork and collaboration are required, with the ability to work among a diverse team, communicate effectively with individuals, and navigate difficult situations.

· Experience in drafting of proposals for humanitarian and development programs strongly preferred but not required.

· Commitment to ethical delivery of humanitarian and human rights programs, with ability to operate beyond media or public attention and maintain focus on the rights and needs of individual beneficiaries and the beneficiary community.

· Skill and knowledge in building the capacity of field staff.

· Strong computer skills: facility with MS Word, Excel, and email/internet software.

· Proven diplomatic and public relations skills, and a demonstrated ability to work with cooperating partners preferred, with the ability to publicly represent an organization.

Length of Contract

The first contract lasts for 12 months and is renewable.

· Salary is commensurate with experience.
