About the Role

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking an Administrative Driver to provide driving service and logistic support in GAIN Ethiopia office. This role will be offered on a 3 years’ fixed term contract basis, subject to availability of funding. You will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Reporting to the Administration, Logistics and Procurement Associate, you will provide driving service of GAIN vehicle to various destinations within the country. The postholder will also provide logistical support to the day-to-day activities of the country office and in line with GAIN vehicle management policy and other policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Driving GAIN vehicle to transport employees and partners to a variety of locations in Ethiopia in a safely and timely manner
  • Ensuring all necessary vehicle documents (e.g., insurance, registration documents, etc.) are present in the vehicle and up to date
  • Carrying out routine inspection on the car to ensure that it is always in good condition
  • Keeping repair records up to date and ensuring the vehicle has completed its servicing and maintenance before starting a long trip
  • Updating monthly mileage records and providing data to Supervisor for monthly operations reporting
  • Ensuring that assigned vehicle(s) are completely equipped with a first aid kit, spare tires, working flashlight and batteries, a vehicle jack, wheel brace and a tool kit (spanner, wrench, tire removers, patch kit, etc.)
  • Providing support to the office administrative functions, which include undertaking messenger tasks, clerical duties, purchasing office supplies, paying bills, photocopying, banking duties, and following up visa matters with the relevant clients/ministries
  • Assisting in sourcing for quotations towards the procurement of goods and materials for program delivery as per corporate procedures to ensure value for money is obtained

About You

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in driving and with very good knowledge and application of the country’s as well as organisation’s driving, road transport and traffic regulations. You will also have good knowledge and skills in auto mechanics.

You will be a highly organised and respectful person with good communication skills and basic understanding of English.

High school graduate with basic technical knowledge, you will have a valid 3rd grade or above Driver’s License with clean record of major accidents within the last 3 years.

About our Offer

The starting salary on offer for this role is from ETB 308,340 – ETB 352,980 per annum (gross salary), depending on experience.

About GAIN

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the United Nations in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Due to COVID19, conflict in Ukraine and climate change, malnutrition and hunger have worsened significantly since 2019, reversing a decade of progress. There is growing recognition that our food systems need to change if we are to reverse these trends.
