TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Position Title: Information Security Analyst
Grade: SSA6
Contract: Special Service Agreement
Duty Station: Baghdad, Iraq
Duration of contract: 6 months, with possibility of extension subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance
Salary: Minimum Annual Net Salary is USD 25,424.00
Medical Plan: International valid medical plan for the staff member, spouse, and dependent children
Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Business Transformation Officer, the job holder is expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to queries with only general guidance. The Information Security Analyst will be responsible for:
- Safeguard the organization’s networks and data.
- Help to maintain security standards of the organization.
- Be updated with the latest security trends and cyber-attack strategies and ensure mitigations are designed and implemented in time.
- Check for network vulnerabilities, update software, and inform the IT staff to enhance the security measures to handle crises.
- Documentation.
Key Accountabilities
- Document the security breaches and measure the damage caused.
- Install software like firewalls and essential data encryption programs to safeguard organization’s vital data.
- Be up to date about the latest security trends.
- Prepare and continuously update the documentation of the security policy to be followed in the organization and it’s partners.
- Suggest security enhancement methods to the organization management or the IT staff.
- Support in implementing both internal and external security audits.
- Analyse the security issues thoroughly to identify the root cause.
- To verify whether the third-party vendors meet security requirements.
- Providing guidance to amateur computer users when they want to know about security procedures.
- Research about the newest security technology that best suits to safeguard the organization.
- Implement penetration testing.
- Create a disaster recovery plan, which is an essential procedure to be followed by every employee during an emergency. This includes transferring data to other locations and restoring IT functionality immediately after a disaster.
- Any other required task.
Functional Capability
- Governance, Strategy and Architecture: Demonstrates awareness of overall IT governance structure and system architecture development to support the process and assist in design of interaction between systems.
- Change Implementation, Project management, Planning and Optimization: Has basic understanding of project management principles to provide basic estimates on timing, resource utilisation and costs to facilitate the project planning process.
- Technical Expertise: Continuously updates one’s own knowledge about new technologies and product modifications; Is sought out for advice/expertise and recognized internally as an important technical reference.
- Service Management: Monitors and supervises maintenance and installation work against the established standards and protocols for service excellence and takes proper actions to correct inconsistencies and improve overall quality and customer satisfaction. Ensures that operational problems are identified and resolved.
- Client Management: Exhibits a detailed understanding of customers’ IT requests in order to effectively address and manage internal customers ‘needs. Identifies recurrent issues to propose long-term solutions.
- Procurement and Contract Management: Able to conduct a cost-benefit analysis of alternative technologies and vendor service level agreements to consolidate options and assess suitability.
Standard Minimum Academic Qualifications
Education: Secondary Education with an additional diploma in computer science, engineering, mathematics, science, or any other relevant qualification is required. Bachelor’s degree in the same areas mentioned above is a strong advantage.
Experience: As minimum of Six (6) years of work experience in information security at the international, national level or in the private sector.
Languages: Fluency in both spoken and written English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
Desired Experiences For Entry Into The Role
- Experience in incident response: handles the negative impact of security breaches and cyber-attacks on future prevention. Also, fixes the breaches in a timely manner.
- Competency in computer forensics: avoid organizational crime through data collection, analysis, and reporting the data in case of a data breach.
- Possess proficiency in firewalls, network security, Linux, security engineering, security architecture, and security assurance.
- Experience in conducting code reviews ensuring quality of development and testing procedures and protocol.
- Certification in one or more of the below is a plus: CISSP, CEH, CISM, COBIT 5, CRISC, CGEIT, CompTIA Security+.
