Atitlan Multicultural Academy
Atitlan Multicultural Academy (AMA) is seeking school teachers for the 2024-2025 school year. This position teaches Social Studies to students in grades 6-12.
About AMA:
Atitlán Multicultural Academy (AMA) is an accredited English language pre-K through twelfth grade school located in Panajachel, Guatemala, on the shores of beautiful Lake Atitlán. AMA is staffed by qualified teachers from the United States and other English-speaking countries, as well as from Guatemala. AMA’s student body is very ethnically and economically diverse with many students from local Mayan villages and the surrounding Panajachel area; we believe this diversity makes AMA a fascinating and healthy community.
AMA is a small, friendly school that provides a world-class, twenty-first century learning environment. Teachers provide individualized learning and support for all students. Graduating AMA seniors go on to attend universities in Guatemala, the United States, and Europe, or go on to work in the public and private sectors in Guatemala. Required Qualifications:
• 4-year degree
• Fluent in English
Preferred Experience:
• Experience working with young students
• Experience working with English Language Learners
• Ability to develop and implement an innovative curriculum and teaching methods
• At least 1 year classroom teaching experience
• Experience living/working in a developing country (Latin America preferred)
• Proficiency in Spanish (a bonus)
*Salary: 5400 quetzales
