The Role

We are seeking a full-time English Literature/Language teacher to join our passionate team of educators. At Harkness, great teachers don’t just boost student achievement – they change lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create engaging lesson plans aligned with the Harkness Method of learning
• Teach up to 26 hours per week
• Grade papers and exams
• Mentor an after-school club
• Participate in school meetings and events
• Maintain communication with parents
• Provide tutoring/counseling for students needing additional support
• Coordinate selected student activities

Ideal Candidate

We value educators with diverse backgrounds and life experiences who are committed to academic rigor and student success. Our ideal candidate will possess:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature or related field
• At least 1 year of teaching experience
• Strong recommendation letters
• Enthusiasm for English Literature and ability to inspire students
• Excellent communication skills for facilitating discussions
• Commitment to work with bright, highly motivated high school students
• Willingness to make a longer-term commitment (2 years or more)
• Passion for teaching and lifelong learning
• Knowledge of teaching in a bilingual environment (preferred but not essential)
