Part Time Assistant Arts Center Manager

Founded by working artists in 2003 Mencius Society for the Arts is a community-based organization currently headquartered on the Lower East Side in New York City. Named in honor of the Chinese philosopher Mengzi (or ‘Mencius’) who believed in learning as key to social harmony, MSA is devoted to the advance and transmission of traditional/folk arts and social empowerment through creative communal engagement. Eligibility Criteria

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) or Spanish
• Possess minimum B.A. (liberal arts and social sciences preferred), college-tracked or recent graduates may apply to our internship.
• Conversant in MS Office, video editing, and standard social media communication
• Experienced in hospitality/F&B industry preferred

Scope and Responsibilities

• Coordinate teaching/learning activities onsite — set up, breakdown equipment, and correspondence via email, telephone, mobile group chats
• Drive general office operation: create basic signage, flyers, and notices, issue & track invoices
• Maintain payroll and receipt records, and regular program documentation

Terms & Compensation

• Schedule: Weekly 22 hours. Thu & Fri (2:00-6:30 pm), Sa & Su (12:00-6:30):
• Compensation: $20-23 per hour depending on qualifications.
• Discretionary: 1-2 hours remote time payable per week
• Probationary Period: 3 months
• Paid Vacation: 7 days upon satisfactory 12 months service (contract renewal)
• Outstanding candidates may be eligible for H-1B sponsorship
