NGO Committee on the Status of Women, New York

About the organization

NGO Committee on the Status of Women, NY (or NGO CSW/NY) is a convener of global civil society for the annual United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) and global gender equality advocacy. Each year, the annual CSW session takes place for two weeks in March at the UN headquarters in New York.

Founded in 1972, we are a coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations, and individuals concerned with gender equality and the rights and empowerment of women and girls. NGO CSW/NY’s main project is organizing the annual NGO CSW Forum to bridge the gap between global civil society and grassroots organizations, and the official UN Commission on the Status of Women. We are a volunteer-based, non-profit (501(c)3) organization funded largely by individual contributions and foundation grants. To learn more about our work, please visit https://ngocsw.org/

About the job

We are looking for a forum producer to work with us from 16 September 2024 to 4 April 2025 to support the organization of our NGO CSW Forum. While the NGO CSW Forum runs parallel to and complements the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), it is a separate process with separate organizers. The NGO CSW Forum is organized by and for global civil society, non-governmental organizations, individuals, and feminists working for the rights and empowerment of women and girls to connect them with the official UN CSW process. The Forum, held in a hybrid format, will engage our 50,000 global members in-person and online through hundreds of events, including informal conversation circles, regional caucuses, and networking opportunities.

  • Coordinate volunteers and staff to support online and in-person events during the NGO CSW Forum, and ensure all participants in the hybrid forum feel connected, supported, and informed in their engagement.
  • Work with the Communications Subcommittee, Office Coordinator, and Communications Intern to develop and implement a plan for meaningful engagement with our membership and broader civil society organizations about participation in the Forum.
  • Reports to Co-Chairs
