The Organization:

Poder Latinx is a civic and social justice organization. Our vision is to build political power for the Latinx community to become decision-makers in our country’s democracy and win on economic, immigrant, and environmental issues. Our mission is to build a sustained progressive voting bloc of Latinxs. We do this by leading a voter-integrated engagement program where all aspects of voter engagement, issue-based campaigns, leadership development, voting reform and protection, and narrative change form a continuous cycle of political consciousness. Through our work, we empower and equip the Latinx community to become agents of change now. Founded in 2019, Poder Latinx currently operates in Arizona, Florida, Washington, and Georgia and leads a national Spanish media communications and civic development leadership program across the country.

The Position:

Poder Latinx is looking for an eager-to-learn and community-driven individual to support the growth and expansion of our development department. The development associate is responsible for assisting in the development process, supporting the grant reporting process, maintaining, identifying, and researching potential donors, providing administrative and strategic support, and all activities related to Poder Latinx’s fundraising efforts. The position reports directly to the Development Manager but may frequently interact with other departments as needed. The Development Associate will support the development team with administrative interactions with funders and partners in order to advance Poder Latinx’s mission. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of the Development Associate include but are not limited to the following:

  • Donor Cultivation Support : 
    • Conduct ongoing prospect research and analysis of new grant opportunities 
    • Apply prospect identification, research, and relationship management strategies to maintain and expand our donor database 
    • Help draft and prepare proposals, letters of inquiry, and final reports for submission, coordinating with other departments.
  • Administrative Support: 
    • Draft and send acknowledgment letters, invoices, and any other administrative documentation for grant payments, as well as for gifts from individuals, foundations, and civic tables
    • Enter and update donor and funder information, communication history, gifts, and grants awards in our internal database
    • Scheduling support to meet quarterly and annual donor outreach efforts 
  • Fundraising Events Support  
    • Provide support with logistics, outreach, and coordination efforts during all fundraising events, including Donor Briefings, Poder Latinx’s annual summit(s), and holiday events 
  • Department Support 
    • Upgrading internal operating systems 
    • Help implement an Integrated fundraising strategy across the organization and all programs
    • Assist with other development tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position will be remote, with required traveling for pre-determined annual activities such as donor briefings, annual summits, and strategic convenings. 
  • Creative and strong communication skills to write and speak to different audiences, with the ability to adapt and change writing styles when necessary 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in development and administrative support  
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, ability to prioritize projects and follow through on detail with accuracy 
  • Experience with EveryAction, SalesForce, Google Drive, and complex spreadsheets, a plus  
  • Knowledge, commitment, and passion for social justice and civic engagement issues as it pertains to the Latinx community are a must.  

Salary Range

$45,000 – $55,000 base with health benefits and generous time off package including healthcare, dental and vision coverage at no cost to the employee, 3 weeks of vacation (1 week fixed) as well as sick leave and paid family leave. Retirement benefits to include 403b with a match and life insurance and disability benefits included.
