Job Profile:

The key role of the Officer- Finance would include overseeing the operations of the finance department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the goals and objectives. For this specifically, it would entail:

  • Managing overall finance operations, budget preparation, compliance management, due diligence, and advising Board & Executive Director on decision making process.
  • Analysis of financial performance against key metrics and document pertinent financial highlights aimed at enabling management to determine progress against budgets.
  • Identifying, investigating, and analysing potential operational improvements and proposing changes.

Key Responsibilities: –

Accounting

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash
  • Reconcile bank and investment accounts
  • Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll

Finance

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation
  • Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate
  • Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting
  • Manage the preparation of the organizational budget
  • Report to management on variances from the planned budget, and the reasons for those variances
  • Assist management in the formulation of its overall strategic direction
  • Manage the cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts in accordance with policy Engage in ongoing cost reduction analyses in all areas of the organization Review the performance & report on key issues to management
  • Interpret the organisation’s financial results to management and recommend improvement activities
  • Review bottlenecks within the financial systems and recommend changes to improve the overall level of the organisation throughout
  • Manage the administrative and capital budgeting process, based on constraint analysis and discounted cash flow analysis.
  • Manage all outsourced financial functions

Funds Management

  • Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements
  • Forecast cash flow positions, related borrowing needs funds availability
  • Statutory / Legal Compliances
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws & procedures for an NGO like FCRA, Utilization certification, Income Tax Act, Labour laws etc.
  • Ensure all statutory requirements of the organization are met and updated with time. Oversee the management and monitoring of all leases, contracts and other financial commitments.

Reports

  • Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the Board’s Audit Committee and the external auditors as necessary
  • Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions
  • Compile key business metrics and report on them to management
  • Create additional analyses and reports as requested by management
  • Assist the Executive Director with financial reporting as required for Board meetings, donor communications etc.

Selection Criteria :

1.Experience :

a. 5-6 years of relevant work experience.

b. Experience in managing budgets and accounts

c. Experience of working and leading financial systems and overall due diligence and compliances.

2. Education :

a. Master’s in any relevant field.

b. Bachelor’s in any relevant field.

3. Languages needed : English, Hindi

4. Skills :

a. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

b. Ability to work on quick timelines to complete tasks and processes

c. Ability to work independently

d. Ability to create detailed plans and drive diverse teams towards task completion f. Reporting and documentation

g. Financial planning and management.

H. Ability to create budgets

i. High degree of familiarity with Microsoft office-based software, especially MS word and Excel, Tally

5. Preference will be given to Female candidates under the age of 45 years.
