Purpose of Proposal
The anticipated USAID Bangladesh Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (BMEL) Activity will serve as a MEL platform providing USAID/Bangladesh with high-quality, demand-driven MEL technical assistance and analytical services and support for collaboration, learning, and adaptation (CLA) delivered to USAID/Bangladesh staff, implementing partners, and country stakeholders that advance U.S. foreign policy goals and USAID’s strategic objectives in Bangladesh.
Summary of the Position
The GIS and data visualization specialist will support BMEL’s team by producing GIS, data visualization, and cartographic products while working effectively with the home office (HO) and other members of the team to create and maintain impactful visualizations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead the activity’s data visualization and GIS activities.
- Create, maintain, and improve data visualizations and cartographic products in printed formats using technologies, such as ArcGIS, and QGIS.
- Support USAID’s GIS needs and the generation of high-quality data visualizations in user-friendly and actionable formats to help BMEL, IPs, and other stakeholders.
- Strengthen data visualization and GIS capabilities amongst IPs and Bangladeshi stakeholders by designing and delivering training, as needed. Reports to COP.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in computer science, technology, or other relevant disciplines.
- Minimum seven years of professional experience in fields including GIS; and database development.
- Expertise with proprietary and open-source GIS software including ArcGIS and QGIS.
- Excellent data management skills and experience working with datasets in multiple formats including shapefile, geodatabase, and CSV.
- Prior experience working on similar USAID programs is preferred.
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Bangla is required.
