Job Title: IT Specialist (Philippine National Only)

Field/Region: Country Office

Location: Makati

Reports To: Administration & Procurement Manager

Job Summary

The Information Technology Specialist (ITS) provides technical support; and monitors and maintains the computer systems and networks within the organization. S/he ensures adherence to all IT policies and standards.

The ITS maintains an inventory of all ITC assets and is responsible for their care and repair.

Principal Responsibilities

Technology Infrastructure Support, Maintenance and Security (30%)

  • Provide IT support including but not limited to hardware, software, network, connectivity issues, support tools, and other systems; this includes working to solve Information Technologies problems.
  • Provide maintenance and security of all network systems, servers, computers, and all other lT related equipment
  • Facilitate the maintenance repair and/or replacement of inadequate or non-working Information Technologies equipment (this may involve travel to other offices).
  • Work in close collaboration with the Global lT office to maintain a secure network, identify and recommend any change in lT that might be required to improve organization performance; this includes tasks using the FH Portal or CDP WorldLink, etc.
  • Test systems and applications including installations and repairs of operating systems (MS Windows & Linux), Office suite packages (MS Office/LibreOffice/Google Docs), network monitoring, and other software applications
  • Maintain and regularly update documentation relating to the network configuration and its administration, update/register inventory of all computer equipment including the software used in all sites;
  • Manage and implement a data backup system and ensure sensitive information is protected, and;
  • Maintain updates of antivirus software on all computers for protection and follow the standard maintenance checklist for periodic checks of machines. Research and purchase any necessary ITC equipment or programs and supplies such as laptops, printers, scanners, toners, network cable, USB, etc.
  • Ensure the administration of all computer equipment (installation troubleshooting, and decommission).
  • Ensure all support requests are communicated via appropriate support channels.
  • Build strong professional relationships with FH Global Information Technology staff for the purposes of problem solving, ensuring that FH Philippines IT is operating according to FH Global standards, and arranging for the visits of FH Global Information Technologies staff.

Support and Training on Technology

  • Ensure that all staff have up to date information about how to utilize their technology most effectively;
  • Provide quick response to staff requests for help, diagnose the problem, provide resolution to staff using email, phone, remote access software, or in-person when available;
  • Provide staff with information on how to avoid the same issue in the future and how to troubleshoot issues for themselves;
  • Organize and train staff on computer care, usage, new technologies and new software, and;
  • Assist and equip staff in finding appropriate training resources and listen to staff’s technical needs;
  • Visit field areas frequently or as required to provide training and support to staff in a timely manner.

Monitor and Maintain Technology Standards

  • Monitor the proper implementation of the lT Policy, provide the supervisor with reports on non-compliance;
  • Document and update lT policies, procedures, and “How To” guides;
  • Provide feedback on new technology and future recommendations on technology.

Personal Development and Learning

  • Maintain and manage individual goals to ensure objectives are achieved;
  • Pursue ongoing training in the form of seminars, conferences, online learning opportunities, and link with Global IT experts;
  • Study, develop, use, and practice English, both verbal and written, and;
  • Manage and maintain all FH policies and procedures and live out the organization’s values.

Experience

With thorough knowledge of network and PC hardware/software systems; Experience in installing and maintaining file servers, microcomputers, printers and other computer equipment such as modems and scanners; Aptitude for, and successful experience in troubleshooting, technical support, and logical problem-solving; Thorough knowledge of microcomputer communications, including modem configurations, communications protocols, cable communication standards, etc.; Prior experience in office administration (office organization, administrative form-filling, report writing, etc.

Education/Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from a college or university and certificate in Computer Science or a related field; Direct experience within an INGO and/or a Master’s degree is a plus; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language

Proficiency in spoken and written English and Tagalog.

Supervisor Responsibilities

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
