The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs.
This position is located in the Infrastructure & Innovation Support (IIS) of the Supply Chain Service at the United Nations Global Service Centre in Brindisi, Italy.
The Logistics Officer is under the general supervision of the Chief, Infrastructure & Innovation Support (IIS).

Within delegated authority, the Logistics Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
• Assist in applying standard practices in the design, construction, maintenance, repair and
liquidation of structures, facilities and systems required for peacekeeping missions and other
United Nations entities.
• Provide expert technical advice on tender documents and overall policies, procedures and
guidelines pertinent to the mission’s activities, taking into account quality management and
risk management best practices.
• Drafts complex tender documents for various types of projects (engineering, electrical,
power supply).
• Coordinates and provides logistics and project management support.
• Identifies, mobilizes resources, implements and reports on special logistics operations, particularly of an engineering nature.
• Provides and coordinates logistics support to engineers, logisticians, facilities managers,
military, police, security and substantive components of the mission.
• Drafts and coordinates logistics plans and other documents supporting the implementation of
logistics operations, as directed by Head of Unit or Section Chief.
• Drafts and coordinates inputs to technical reports, presentations, briefing notes, and other
information documents required by the management, including inputs required by the UNHQ.
• Liaise with logisticians, engineers and other subject matter experts responsible for related
specialized phases to arrive at mutually satisfactory approaches to problems by exchanging
and comparing data.
• Coordinates logistics and engineering requirements with other units and UN entities.
• Liaises and coordinates logistics support with UNHQ.
• Ensures that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are
functioning and that all relevant project documents/records are maintained.
• Ensures that logistics and engineering requirements take account of gender-specific needs.
• Performs other related duties as required.
