Job Title: Project Assistant

Location: Gaziantep -Turkey (Karsiyaka)

Job purpose:

This is a 3-month Project Assistant position based in Karşıyaka CPC, Gaziantep. It also requires the full-time performance of work in the assigned duty station.

You will report to Project Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare daily plans prior to every PSS session in line with the existing PSS curriculum and activity bank; prepare appropriate materials and/or visual aids in advance of the session.
  • In collaboration with other PSS facilitators in community centers, in rural and urban areas; deliver PSS sessions remotely and in person to targeted age groups; facilitate engaging sessions online and in person that encourages children’s active participation and personal development.
  • Participate in designing assessment tools, and in planning together with programs and MEAL teams:
  • Participate in field works for assessment of needs of earthquake-affected individuals and communities in the above-mentioned provinces by phone and site visits as and when requested; enter data into online forms and assist the information management team in analyzing data.
  • Participated in distributions of food and NFIs, hygiene kits, and other materials to EQ survivors who were assessed for identification of needs.
  • Positively interact with affected communities, communicate clearly, so they feel safe and respected at all times, and encourage them to express their emotions and needs.
  • Ensure inclusive participation by following an age- and gender-sensitive approach.
  • Maintain communications with affected persons and communities.
  • Facilitate remote and in-person seminars for affected persons and communities; facilitate remote and in-person training for partners in different locations.
  • Collaborate closely with the MEAL team to monitor activities with existing PSS and Caregiver Engagement monitoring tools and use PSS selection criteria effectively.
  • Facilitate organizing and participate in PDMs to measure the impact of distributions and assist MEAL team in analyzing the collected data.

Academic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social science, or in a related subject area, a master’s degree will be an advantage.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of protection and key protection concern and at least 1 year of experience in the protection field or education, preferably working with vulnerable groups.
  • Familiarity with the social protection system of the Government of Turkey and activities of relevant actors.
  • Familiarity with the Government of Turkey’s regulations and system for refugees and asylum seekers residing in Turkey.
  • Turkish fluent and advanced proficiency in Arabic required.

  • Have a passion for or strong interest in the humanitarian field and human rights particularly related to refugees and children’s rights.

  • Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, internet applications) are essential.
  • Intermediate or advanced level of English
  • Strong understanding of and engagement with the humanitarian context and I/NGO field.
  • Ability to work independently and to prioritize deliverables, often with little oversight, in a fast-paced and complex environment.
  • Good team player, flexible and capable of working with a multicultural team, and culturally sensitive.
  • Ability to cope with stress, work under pressure often to strict deadlines.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, sense of humor, and patience
