
Syria Justice and Accountability Centre
SJAC is a Syrian human rights organization working for meaningful justice and accountability for Syria. It seeks a remote consultant to provide technical support on an as-needed basis to SJAC staff, who work from an office in Washington DC or remotely. SJAC anticipates requiring 3-10 hours of support per month and will consider applications from both individual consultants and organizations.
General Duties:
- Resolve technical requests from SJAC staff and troubleshoot technical issues, such as logging into SJAC email accounts, setting up desktop versions of Sharepoint, guiding staff in setting up BitLocker, etc.
- Guide new SJAC staff through computer setup, including wiping existing hardware of historical data, encrypting computers with BitLocker, and installing necessary software.
- Keep track of necessary software and licenses, including, but not limited to Adobe Acrobat Pro, Norton Antivirus, Microsoft Office, and VPN subscriptions, if necessary
- Maintain SJAC’s inventory of laptops and other IT assets, ensuring that inventory reflects physical location of all assets
- Assist staff in identifying and purchasing new laptops and other IT assets as needed.
Skills and Experience
- Experience providing IT instruction or technical support remotely
- Experience working with non-profit organizations is desired
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrated ability to assist new staff with basic IT tasks:
- Experience purchasing software/licenses and ensuring that licenses are kept up to date
- Proven ability to work independently, self-starter
- Must demonstrate a sense of responsibility and sensitivity in dealing with diverse audiences
- Conversant in Arabic is a plus
