The USAID Morodok Baitang project in Cambodia, implemented by Tetra Tech International Development (www.tetratech.com/intdev), is currently accepting applications for a Training and Curriculum Development Consultant. This short-term position will require travel to Phnom Penh, Cambodia and requires travel within the country.
The goal of this 5-year $24M project is to conserve Cambodia’s unique biodiversity, reduce land-based sources of carbon emissions in support of national goals, and improve accountable and equitable economic development. A critical part of this strategy is the development of conservation-friendly, climate-smart and socially-equitable value chains and market systems.
Position Description/Summary: Tetra Tech is seeking a Training and Curriculum Development Expert to support revisions to training materials and curricula used to support scaling up and promotion of organic, conservation-friendly rice production in and around protected areas. Materials cover topics related to recruitment of farmers, technical skill building related to organic production and compliance monitoring, and capacity building of famers groups. The Training and Curriculum Development Expert will review materials, revise curriculum and training materials based on adult learning principles, and recommend priorities and content for follow-up and platforms (in-person, online videos, call-in centers, etc) which takes into consideration communication and outreach strategies and incentives for behaviour change.
Responsibilities:
* Review project documents and analyses, and curriculum and training materials currently being used by SMP;
* Identify and review existing and relevant materials related to Rice Farming as a Business and Farmer Field Schools;
* Meet with stakeholders;
* Lead half-day workshop to present and validate major findings from field observations and review of training materials and relevant literature; and
* Re-draft training modules and diversify approaches used.
Qualifications:
* An advance degree in education or related field;
* At least 5 years of experience in development and design of agricultural or natural resource training programs, courses, materials, aids, etc., and experience employing state-of-the-art training delivery systems;
* Experience in concepts, principles, and methods of training development to develop broad range of agriculture training programs, manuals and guidelines. Knowledge of or experience with farming as a business or Farmer Field School models and curricula preferred;
* Extensive knowledge of curricula and educational resources – both for face to face as well as technology enhanced modes, trainers and learners guides;
* Ability to incorporate distance learning techniques and other multimedia processes to provide guidance and direction to individuals and teams on TOT workshops and their delivery;
* Demonstrated track record of timely delivery of high-quality outputs;
* Fluency in spoken and written English is compulsory;
* Teaching or instructing in an adult education program is preferred;
* Experience working with farmers and youth with little or no-formal education, especially in the rural areas will be an added advantage; and
* Relevant work experience in Cambodia or the region is preferred.
