Project Overview:

The Pacific Labour Facility (PLF) facilitates seasonal and longer-term work opportunities for Pacific workers in Australia. It connects Australian employers with Pacific workers under the newly introduced Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme which combines the existing Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS) and Seasonal Worker Programme (SWP).

Role Overview:

The PNG Labour Mobility Unit (LMU) is responsible for delivering a high-quality Labour Mobility program to both Australia and New Zealand. The Labour Mobility Communications Officer will be responsible for coordinating national media of Labour Mobility in Papua New Guinea (PNG), through media and promotional outlets, including radio, print press and social media. This role will also support regional media initiatives, contribute to the development of monitoring and evaluation communication products and assist with general administration in the office when needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop appropriate communication plans about Labour Mobility for the Unit
  • Support the production of content for the development of communication products across a range of channels (social media, print, radio)
  • Produce final communication products for Labour Mobility Facebook page, for radio, television, print media, and other relevant media outlets
  • Actively seek and secure opportunities to promote the Labour Mobility programs in PNG, in partnership with relevant stakeholders
  • Liaise with local, national, regional labour mobility ‘communication’ stakeholders
  • Develop working relationships and open communication pathways with relevant Australian based staff
  • Assist colleagues with the strengthening of their skills in communications, team building, problem solving, use of communications technology
