Mission & context

Médecins Sans Frontières is an international independent medical-humanitarian organization, which offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation.

MSF is a civil society initiative that brings together individuals committed to the assistance of other human beings in crisis. As such MSF is by choice an association. Each individual working with MSF does it out of conviction and is ready to uphold the values and principles of MSF.

MSFeCARE is an electronic clinical decision support system based on an open source application that helps health workers in their clinical decisions. The app guides the health workers through structured clinical assessments and evidence-based decision making, up to to a classification and treatment recommendations, improving the quality of care provided by frontline health workers. All recommendations are based on MSF and international experts’ guidelines.

Since 2016, MSFeCARE has been deployed in 9 countries of 5 MSF operational sections, supporting more than 395’000 consultations. The program is currently scaling-up with new modules of the app (MSFeCARE for Young Infant and MSFeCARE-Vacci) and new planned deployments in various countries.

The MSFeCARE Field Implementer will be part of the MSFeCARE project team and under the supervision and responsibility of the Field Implementation coordinator.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The MSFeCARE Field Implementer will lead eCARE intervention deployments together with the field team of the targeted missions:

  • He/she will perform an assessment of the quality of primary health care at the targeted health facilities
  • He/she will train the consulting health workers on the syndromic approach and on the clinical algorithm of eCARE, to perform more systematic and structured clinical assessments, with improved interactions with caretakers and patients,
  • He/she will coach the consulting health workers during real consultations for them to become familiar with navigating on a tablet application,
  • He/she will train the health facilities supervisors and focal point on the MSFeCARE intervention processes, the use of the MSFeCARE algorithm, and the M&E and data transfer functionalities
  • He/she will train the supervisors and field medical managers on the use of monitoring data and reports, especially for clinical supervision activity
  • He/she will ensure necessary logistics resources and processes are set up
  • He/she will assist the mission in ensuring community acceptance (loco-regional health authorities and local community)
  • He/she will present data visualization tools presentation (DHIS2, power BI)
  • He/she will ensure intervention uptake by the mission and its ability to brief and train newcomers to the project
  • He/she will document and report on his missions

More generally:

  • He/she will play an active role in improving MSFeCARE implementation documentations and tools
  • He/she will remotely assist active projects on an adhoc basis

Your Profile

Education & Experience

  • Medical Degree
  • MSF field experience
  • Strong experience as trainer

Languages

Terms of Employment

  • Full-time job (based on 40 hours weekly)
  • Contract initially until June 2023 with possible one-year extension
  • Monthly gross salary : 5’500 CHF
  • Practical working conditions (also during field visits) as per the MSF-OCG rules
  • Starting date : As soon as possible
