SYCAC is a non-profit, non-governmental civil society organization established in Turkey in 2012. It aims to increase civic spaces by empowering, protecting, and building community capacities, as well as enhancing the leadership role of women and marginalized groups in peace processes and early recovery of communities, so as to achieve communities that embrace the principle of democracy and human rights.

Position Summary

MEAL Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development and harmonization of an effective monitoring and evaluation system, Collecting, and analyzing data from the field regarding implemented activities and reporting to the line manager and for quality control of data entered into SYCAC’s internal MEAL database, ensuring that the complaint/feedback mechanism is provided with transparency and credibility, develop a monitoring and evaluation plan for projects based on the log frame.

The MEAL Coordinator supports capacity building and training activities on M&E topics for SYCAC staff.

Key Responsibilities

  1. MEAL
  • Design tools and SOPs aimed to monitor project activities implementation against the work plan.
  • Streamline baseline assessments and coordinate training evaluations.
  • Reach out to program beneficiaries and gathers relevant information about conducted capacity development seminars and workshops and the overall performances of council advisors.
  • Develop a plan and tools for regular performance evaluation of council advisors.
  • Other monitoring and reporting duties may be added as the monitoring and reporting framework and structure is developed.
  1. Database:
  • Establish a rigorous quality control system for entries into the internal M&E database.
  • Spot check data entered by local council advisors inside Syria.
  • Engage in regular data analysis and use of results for program quality improvement.
  • Process data from the database to contribute to periodical staff evaluations.
  1. Reporting:
  • Compile weekly and monthly reports to the donor.
  • Act as reporting focal point within SYCAC and guarantee high-quality reporting.
  • Ensure reporting is in line with the donor’s requirements.
  1. Training
  • Conduct training SYCAC staff to improve their reporting skills and increase their capacities on M&E topics.

Required Qualifications

Education: bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, reporting, project management or a related field
  • Have work experience in an international environment and with NGOs working in complex situations.
  • Advanced Experience in communication with donors.

Knowledge: Have a good knowledge of the Syrian context, and am familiar with humanitarian and development fields.

Management Skills have a high level of communication, time management, reports writing, Monitoring, building relationships, meetings management, Strong analytical and conceptual skills, and the ability to think and plan strategically.

IT Skills: familiar with the following software and applications: all MS office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Power PI).

Personal Skills: Proactive, task-oriented, hardworking, and can work under pressure within a teamwork environment.

Languages: fluency in Arabic and English, both written and verbal.
