II. Organizational context

Caritas Czech Republic (CCR) is a non-profit non-governmental organization with field activities in 27 countries (Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa) and an extensive social services program in the Czech Republic assisting more than 100,000 clients. CCR is a member of the international network of Caritas Internationalis and cooperates with a number of international and local partners.

The core of CCR’s activities focuses on development cooperation and longer-term programming. However, the share of humanitarian and nexus interventions is growing, especially in the sectors of shelter, cash and emergency livelihoods, WASH and health.

CCR is looking for a Project Manager with an experience in coordination and managing of projects in the Syrian context. In addition, Project Manager is supposed to support also the country office’s administration and development, upon supervision and leadership by the Country Director and in cooperation with local partners. The project manager should be able to travel to Northwest Syria on a regular basis.

III. Responsibilities

Project management and administration:

  • Coordination of project implementation, focusing on quality delivery of project results, in line with organizational and donor guidelines, manuals and official legal procedures of partners
  • Responsibility for project planning and coordination with implementing partner organization
  • Timely reporting to the CCR country office, CCR HQ and donors
  • Project team leadership: ensure coordinated teamwork, support recruitment
  • Maintaining good order in records and official documentation
  • Representation of CCR to various stakeholders (together with the country office management)
  • Contributing to the CCR country office strategic planning together with the management
  • Contributing to the resource mobilization and supporting the new fund opportunities
  • Gather lessons learned, identify best practices, participate in the development of guidelines and manuals, local expert pool and expert resources

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Development of M&E plans per project in light of the agreed M&E frameworks with donors
  • Design M&E tools for various proposes; assessment, KIIs, FGDs, surveys…etc.
  • Compile collected data and prepare required M&E reports

Financial responsibilities:

  • Regular financial management/reporting to the Country Director
  • Responsibility for financial expenditure tracking and forecasting
  • Managing and applying organizational and donor financial rules during the project implementation

IV. Requirements

  • Minimum three years of experience in emergency humanitarian project management in multiple countries, preferable experience in providing expertise in DG ECHO-funded interventions
  • Demonstrated track record in the implementation of humanitarian interventions in the sectors of shelter, WASH, cash assistance and emergency livelihoods
  • University graduate, ideally in management, engineering, sustainable development or another relevant field
  • Proven experience in managing teams of up to at least five people
  • Experience in proposal writing and reporting to institutional donors
  • Excellent English, Turkish and Arabic, both written and spoken
  • Good organizational skills and ability to analyse information
  • Motivation, creativity and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a diverse team, managing stressful situations
